PGDip (CBT), PGDip (Counselling)

Hello, my name is Dimitrios. I am a specialist CBT practitioner accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), which is the primary professional organisation for CBT therapists in the UK and Ireland. In addition, I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), which is the largest Counselling & Psychotherapy professional body in Europe, as well as the European Association for Counselling (EAC), the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) and the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT).

I have extensive experience helping individuals who experience psychological difficulties by providing evidence-based psychotherapy tailored to their needs and preferences. Although my primary therapeutic approach is CBT, I also incorporate techniques from other approaches like schema, psychodynamic, and interpersonal when necessary to optimise the chances of an effective therapy process that produces positive, profound, and long-lasting treatment outcomes.

I specialise in providing clinical assessments and treatments for individuals struggling with various mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), phobias, and panic disorder. In addition, I can help you address issues related to health anxiety, trauma, panic attacks, agoraphobia, anger, shame, personal development, body image, insomnia, work-related stress or issues, self-esteem, low confidence, perfectionism, anger management, and relationship or familial difficulties.

I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore your difficulties and concerns. I adhere to ethical frameworks set by professional bodies and ensure that the therapy environment is non-judgmental and unbiased. I am friendly and empathetic and believe in promoting a warm and genuine atmosphere for your comfort. I also emphasise the importance of establishing a trustworthy therapeutic relationship for achieving positive treatment outcomes.

Sometimes, you may find it challenging to deal with your own thoughts. They can make you feel overwhelmed, anxious, distressed, scared, or trapped, or even lead you to behave in ways you don’t want to. I understand that this struggle can negatively impact various aspects of your life, including your social, personal, and family relationships, work, and more. However, you don't have to face these challenges alone. I'm here to help you identify the most suitable solutions that can enhance your quality of life. My goal is to make you feel happier, more confident about dealing with your problems, and more motivated about living your life. I'm committed to helping you improve your self-awareness, gain a deeper understanding of your dificulties, connect with your inner resources, and develop coping skills and strategies that will enable you to overcome your difficulties and become a resilient 'therapist of yourself' during and beyond the treatment process.

It is important to remember that mental health is just as important as physical health when willing to live a fulfilling life. Don't let your problems hold you back when there is an option to free yourself from them. I understand that finding a therapist and scheduling that first appointment can be overwhelming. However, taking that first step could make a positive difference in your well-being and overall quality of life. Investing in your mental health is always worthwhile as you deserve t    feel happy.

   PSYCHOTHERAPEVIN

Psycho comes from the Greek word ψυχή (psyche) which is the soul, mind, spirit, or invisible animating entity which occupies the physical body.

Therapevin is the ancient Greek present active infinitive of the word Θεραπεία   (therapea) which is the healing interventional process for the improvement of a health problem.
